My TPI swap - what ya think so far?
I am doing a carb to TPI swap and I started with an 86 TPI system off of Ebay. The guy was close and the price was right. I have gotten parts from many of you on this board and thanks for each of yours help - I needed it. I am in no way getting close to done but wanted to post my polished plenum. I ported the inlet where the throttle body connects. I tool the butteflys out of the TB and cleaned out 19 years of YUK! I took my intake, Plenum and runners to a machine shop and had them hot tanked to remove all the build up. It was worht the $30 bucks. The EGR holes were completly clogged, and the small holes just inside the plenum for the EGR was plugged with carbon as well. I am about 80% complete with polishing the Plenum and half way complete on one of the runners. One picture is a nice comparison from stock to polished.
If you have any suggestions or complaints (but tell me how to improve if it is a complaint;-) let me know.

Remember to check the 4 center holes on the intake if putting this on an 87' or newer engine. They are at a different angle and you don't want to find out on the day you're installing it.
A dremel with one of those "rot-zip" bits worked like a charm for mine. Ground on one of the holes for about 40 minutes then changed to that bit and did the other 3 in 15 minutes.
good luck with it
Also when I did mine I polished the fuel rails and painted the grooves with paint to match my car (same with the top plenum grooves)
The "color-chrome" spray paint looks pretty good for doing that and doesn't come out looking like paint.
Putting a silver high temp base coat on other parts you want to color make it come out nicer too.
Here's a pic of what the color comes out like.
