Help Please.. Starting To Lose Hope
ALL RIGHT.. I HAVE AN 88 GTA.. 350 TPI, 5 SPEED MANUAL. I BOUGHT IT W/ A FEW PROBLEMS.. ONE OF THE PROBLEMS IS THAT THE ELECTRIC FANS HAD HAD THE WIRES CUT.. SO THE CAR WAS OVERHEATING.. SO I STRAIGHTWIRED THEM TO THE BATTRY AS A QUICK FIX TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME..WELL AS ME AND MY BUDDY GOT AROUND TO FIXING SOME OF THE THINGS WRONG W/ IT.. HE DECIDED THAT HE WOULD GO AHEAD AND RUN WIRES TO THE FAN AND JUST SPLICE THEM IN W/ SOMETHING ELSE.. SO AFTER A WHILE.. HE FOUND A WIRE THAT WOULD DO THE JOB.. AS IT TURNED OUT.. HE CHOSE THE FUEL PUMP WIRES.. SO WHEN THE KEY TURNED AND ALL THE ACCESSORIES TURNED ON AND THE FUEL PUMP PRIMED.. THE FANS WOULD CUT ON.. WELL IT WORKED THE FIRST TIME.. THEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TRIED IT AGAIN.. NOTHING.. THE MOTOR WOULD ONLY SPIN.. WELL I COULDN'T HEAR THE FUEL PUMP CUTTING ON SO I FIGURED THAT W/ THE EXTRA POWER DRAWING OFF THE WIRES FOR THE FANS.. THAT IT HAD SOMEHOW FRIED THE PUMP..SO I HAD TO REPLACE THAT.. BUT FIRST I TRIED REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP RELAY.. DIDN'T WORK.. SO I GOT A FUEL PUMP AND REPLACED IT THE OTHER DAY.. STILL NOTHING.. JUST SPINNING.. SO I REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER HOPING IT WAS JUST EXTREMELY CLOGGED AND NOT LETTING FUEL PASS THROUGH.. STILL NOTHING.. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT.. DOES ANYBODY KNOW ANYTHING THAT CAN HELP?? I'M STARTING TO LOSE HOPE AND STARTING TO THINK ABOUT SELLING IT.. I LOVE THE CAR AND WANT NOTHING MORE THAN TO GET IT UP AND RUNNING.. BUT I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO..

Theres no need to shout!
Check the fuse on the pass. side fender near the battery. Its in a small enclosure there. This is for the fuel pump. Also, wire the fans back up the way they where stock rather then trying to run them off of another circuit. Thatll cause blown fuses, and even fires.

I agree on the fuse diagnosis. Either that or you melted a wire - pulling that many amps (about 15 per fan plus the fuel pump) must have surely blown the fuse.

My ears are bleeding! You can't cut corners on wiring. Search for the schematic and do it right! It'll save you having to empty your fire extinguisher!
