Help!!! with sensor

I have 1988 GTA with the L98 in it, My question is the fuel pump relay sensor suppost to have power to it when you turn on the key? I unhook it and put a power light on it and the light does not come on. PLEASE let me know, and thank you.

I would have to say yes it should have power to let the fuel pump prime . before starting.

So I hooked up some out side power connection and the fuel pump started to run, Why then do you think it will not run on its own?
