Going w/ bigger injectors...

I have an '85 TPI T/A that originally had a 305. After I spun a bearing I replaced it w/ a 350 goodwrench crate. All the originall 305 components were put back on. The only mods are flowmaster exhaust from the cat back and an slp cold air kit. Since the orginal tpi was put back on, I currently have 19# injectors. I'm thinking that I should upgrade, but I'm not sure if I would need to have the ecm reprogrammed or not. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Unsure about the capabilites of the early '85 ECM's, but just for reference, all l98 F-Bodies (350's) came with 22lb/hr injectors.

If you're running a stock setup engine, you *probably* will be okay with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, set to 45/46psi for WOT performance...You should still get a prom for a 350 though, thing is, I don't know what's available for early 85's.

Later 85's used the 165 ECM. and the changeover frmo 305 to 350 is fairly pinless (in stock form).

Get the 22lb injectors and the correct 350 PROM. Right now you are running too lean.

Where can I get more info on the correct PROM that I would need?

If your car is using the older ECM (can't remember the #) then there isn't a correct PROM since the 85 model never had a 350. In 86-89 they went to the '165 ECM which took a different PROM. Most of us are running a custom modification of the 89 350 PROM. I don't know the bin file name for this one. A friend burned mine for me. You will either have to buy the equipment to make your own or have someone do it for you.

Head over the DIY PROM forum to get started, as mentioned before, if you have the earlier ECM (870??) then there isn't a factory 350 PROM for it, since only 305's were built then.

You may be able to repin your harness to run the 165ECM and then use a factory 350 chip to start with, try the ECM forum to see if someone can lead you in the right direction.

OK, I'm not saying that this is the absolute best fix, but since he's running lean (assuming) wouldn't the 22# injectors fix this without a re-tune?

...since all us L98 guys that add 24# injectors need tocompensate for extra fuel, if he's running lean to begin with, shouldn't the 22# be pretty close?

....I know, always best to do it right, I was just throwing out a thought.
