code 36, intermittant

OK I got a code 36.. the check engine light only comes one once every three or four times I start the car. Intermittent, bad connection, loose relay?? I reset the computer. The car doesn't start very easily and usually requires a bit second of gas pedal after starting to clean up and speed up the idol to run normally. Smells like its running a bit rich and theres a touch of hesitation during normal driving. Without a check engine light it seems to be pretty normal (still smells a bit rich, but don't they always?)
The first thing I thought of was the MAF and I have another good working and tested MAF here, so I tried it out. No change. I also put the removed MAF into another car and it didn't throw any codes.. so that removes itself as a problem.
I'm going to start by trying to test and possibly replace the MAF burnoff relay and MAF power relay. The question I have is, where is it located? Under the hood, under the dash? I read through my cheap-o Haynes manual and did a search on TGO about code 36.. got lots of advice, but where the heck are these relays located?
If that fails I'm going to try swapping the computers (same numbers) and see what happens... Reason being the cruise control doesn't work, nor does the shift light.
Thanks and lemme know, I'm going to hit it first thing in the mornin'!

MAF relay should be located near the fan and fuel pump relays.
Driver side of the car tucked in the corner of the firewall there.
Going to need wire colors and a wiring diagram as I believe they are all physically similiar relays.

That link has a pic that Vader posted with all the relays labeled.. I would highly suggest pickin up a 4 dollar can of CRC QD Electronic cleaner from O'Reilly's or Autozone and use it to clean up the connectors on the relay and the connectors on the harness. Make sure to unplug the battery while cleaning them and wait 15 - 30 min for it to completely dry.

ok well I swapped out the MAF and tested, nope. I swapped out the MAF Burn-off relay, nope. Then I swapped out the MAF Power Relay and bingo. Problem solved. Thanks for the help, I think I'd still be trying to figure it out the problem without use of this board!
