AS&M semi-Siamesed runner issues

I cant get the runners to seal correctly...seams like they are leaking where the base meets the runners......Has anyone had problems with these runners???? I have an Accel TPI base....The only thing I noticed that didn't seem right is that when The runners are bolted down to the lower base without the upper plenum installed yet........

When I go to install the upper plenum there seems to be a bigger-than-normal gap between the upper plenum and runners even when the gaskets are in.......When I bolt everything down the runners come closer to the upper plenum to seal......

The car doesnt want to run because of this vaccum leak........I've checked and tried everything.....new gaskets, different tightning sequences......nothing helps except one strange thing.......

I double gasketed the upper plenum to runners and it seems to seal better but there is still a small vaccum leak.......I can maybe even triple gasket the upper plenum and COMPLETELY seal it but that isnt right....these should seal with one set of gaskets...NOT THREE!!!!!

Maybe its the lower base.......I dunno!!! All I know is that I previously had AS&M large tube runners on the car and had NO problems.......

did u get all the bolts started before sending them home. I've seem people tighten the lower bolts into the base all the way before getting the bolts from the runners to plenum started. I'd see if you can get them all started , then jump around from bolt to bolt slowly tightening to make sure everything sits right.....hope that helps

yup did that........I've have my tpi (and others) off 100's of times...never ran into this problem.......this is my first time with siamessed runners though......I think it's my base cause the runners came off of a car that was running fine......

As purely an experiment, if you have a free afternoon, take them and the plenum and try to bolt it up to the stock baseplate to see if you have the same problem. Obviously this would be on a bench, but you should be able to tell all the same, if it really is a major problem...

If it is still a problem, get on AS&M's case and see what they say. If it's not a problem - for whatever reason - that base/runner combo may just not be meant to be.
