fuel injector questions

Are they all created equal ? I bought a new set quite sometime ago and the car has never run right. I told the parts store they were for a VIN code 8 engine (first mistake since this is a 305) however I'm switching to a 350 soon here anyways. Heres the biggest question .... these injectors were of the 87'ish ordered vintage and I went to speed density instead of using mass air as I originally planned. Would the older injectors cause a problem with the 90-92 730 ECM.

They shouldn't. I'd bet the problem right now is your running 22# injectors and the system thinks you're running 19's. Does the exhaust smell or put black spots in the dirveway if you let it sit and idle for 5 minutes after sitting overnight? Are the plugs getting blackened? Those would be sure signs of what I'm talking about....

no it doesn't leave black spots at all, but then again it has a catalytic converter as well. The car does make alot of popping sounds in the exhaust though. I know the car is running on the rich side though.

I swapped in a set of 22 lb injectors out of a 88GTA with a 350, into my 305 tpi. It ran fine and I even passed smog a few months later with it, no tuning what so ever.

While datalogging I noticed it ran a little rich whenever the rpms changed, but that was only a second or two, then it would pull out fuel and be right where it should be.

All the injectors (from thirdgens) are the same high impedence injectors, so it should cause no problems, however the injectors in the later years were junk, I believe they changed over in 89.

If you're going to put in a new engine, I would send the injectors out to Rich at Cruzin' Performance, and have him check them out and service them, he could tell you if there are any problems with the injectors.
