Another TPI swap question
Is performing a TPI swap on a car with 160K miles on the original engine a good/practical idea? I've heard and read stories about cam/head swaps causing disaster and this rates as a major change so post your thoughts. Has anyone here done this swap on a high mileage engine?

I did, and spun a couple rod bearings ..
it was probally my fault for pushing the motor
too hard
glad I blew that 305 up tho ..
I had heads, intake and cam in the engine when
she said "f**k you"
I bought the motor for $200 with somewhere
around 130k, the motor lasted 6-7 months
(not bad!!) It got me through high school
wasnt a bad investment at all !!

Well, i would say this first.
THE FUN FACTOR GOES WAY UP WHEN THE TPI TORQUE IS FELT.
That said, I cannot imagine a "TPI" intake swap being anymore devastating to a motor than a edelbrock swap for a cast iron 70's intake. The go pedal just gets used more. Wear and tear will increase as fun increases, just nature I suppose.
If the bottom end is sound now, ie: no knocking, and good compression, and oil pressure, then throw it on and have a blast. Worst case scenario, you are out 32 bucks for gaskets............
Good luck, and TPI'S KICK AZZ.
