How many grounds are suppose to be here?

How many grounds are suppose to be connected to the back of the left hand cylinder head? And if possible, what does each one stand for?

Someone Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have always been told that to know the difference from the left or the right on a car you should pretend you are sitting in the drivers seat. If you need a new drivers fender you need a left fender, ect... If you are standing at the front of the car this would be on the right side when looking at it. This would make things very confusing to know the difference from left to right, or right to left. To keep from being confused sit in the drivers seat and decide from there!!! Hope this helps??? yes left side being drivers side. Please respond someone, I got a wiring nightmare on my hands Id like to tackle this weekend. I been looking through some schematics, but generic ones that don't say where the grounds attach too.

I just did mine, as I just put a new motor in ..

My L98 car has 3 grounds on the left and 2 on
the right, plus the ground that comes off the firewall

most grounds should come directly off the main harness
that wraps around the back of the motor, so they will be
able to reach the back of the heads

I dont know what each individual ground stands for ..
but all I know is my motor didnt crank, lights didnt flip
and inside guages light up without those grounds
connected ..

you probally wont have as many grounds, you have a
camaro .. or you might have just as many

my car has flip lights, and power mirrors ..etc
so it could be diffrent !!

hope that helps

It's so dang crammed back there and hard to see. Im gonna just try and see what wires they are and trace them if no one can tell me what ones are suppose to be there.

Thanks for the info!

Why do you need to trace them?
is something not working? possible wire
damage? all I can say is its a major pain in
rear to trace all those grounds ..

just because location and where they might go,
and the fact the harnesses are all plastic guarded
from factory, which makes things more difficult

good luck,
sorry I could supply the info your looking for

yes the car had some crappy wiring done to it before by the previous owner via an alarm system. I found several broken wires on the back of the drivers side cylinder head when i removed this alarm. Many of them were for the alarm. Why there was so many is beyond me. I just want to get it organized like it was originally.

All a ground is a completion of the battery circuit. In other words the negative battery is grounded to the chasis. You should have grounds going from the engine to the chasis or make more grounds from the battery to locations to promote good grounding. I have three grounds on my one head and two on the other I ran a 8 gauge black cable from one head to the other and from the drivers side head to the negative battery cable. I also made more grounds off the battery. This solved the dimming of my dash lights when the lights were on, made the car run smoother. I had some melted wires before I fixed them. If there is no room by the heads relocated them and make sure the ground is good via a multi meter.
