How do i get the ground wire off of thefuel sending unit

How do i get the ground wire off of thefuel sending unit
I need to replace the ground wire, I have a hole cut though my trunk to access t tank. But I can't figure how to get the ground wire off of the sending unit. Will I have to remove the sending unit?
