what does this connector go to?

engine compartment passenger side by firewall. out of the wireing harness it has the timing connector which is brown/black, and in the same spot out of the harness is a red wire that goes to the underhood light bulb, and in the same spot out of the harness is an orange wire that has a connector on the end of it, i cant find any place to plug it in, anyone one what this is or have a diagram?

The orange wire "should" be the underhood light feed and the red wire I'm assuming should be the fuel pump test connector. My '91 TPI doesn't have either in that corner, just the timing connector.

maybe i got the orange and red wires mixed up, but one of them goes to the underhood light, and i dont know what the other one is. if it is the fuel pump test connector, is it supposed to be just sitting there open?

Yes, it just sits there open. The point is, if your doing diagnostics of either the pump, or fuel system (injector balance test), you can put a fused 12V source to that connector and it will operate the fuel pump.
