Wiring Help

So the engine is out and i started to look at what I would have to wire and splice to make the painless MAF harness work. The engine was origionally TBI and had all options(ac, etc.). I have run into a problem though. What to do with those wires that come out of the firewall neer the master cylinder? There is like 10 of them and I'm curious what they are and why they are spliced into the origional harness...? Tips and/or pictures of which wires you have to cut and splice would be greatly appreciated too. I need this project done asap.
