Can a 94/95 TRUCK TBI PCM be used to control a TPI on a SUBURBAN?

Hear me out for a moment GENTS . I have done many TPI conversions using the 7730 and 7727 ECMS, and 6.32 DFI systems, but I have always wondered if the Injector driver/(s) of the 94/95 Chevy TBI PCMs would support (8) 22-24# injectors. The reason for asking is I have a 95 SUBURBAN, and it works great, but the TBI is just not as responsive as the TPI's, and I want more torque and power. I know S&P sells a 7727 conversion harness, which controls the engine, but retains the stock PCM for the 4L60E control. I haven't looked closely into the 94/94 truck PCM to see what drivers they use, and if they will support this. My logic is the TPI intake is simply just an air distribution device, and doesn't really care what is providing the input to its sensors. For example, 7165, 7730, 7727, DFI, SPEED-PRO, and so on. The 94/95 PCM uses basically all of the same sensor inputs as a TPI setup, but the only caveat I have noticed different is the single (5-volt reference voltage) output used for both the TPS and MAP sensor, other than that, it should work. I would love to hear from Bruce and others who have delved into the PCM's to see if this is feasible. Instead of going the S&P dual controller method, I could just simply do an LT-1 conversion, since the 8051 PCM will also control the 4L60E. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has wondered this idea. All replies welcomed .

Yep, edelbrock did it. Just wire the injectors in 2 banks of 4 each in the same manner as the TBI (pair the same cylinders).

Yep, what Fast said. I happen to have a complete Edelbrock multi-port conversion intake system designed to replace a factory TBI system in my garage. I am not an EE, but I think they did some combination of hooking up 4 individual injectors in some combination of parallell/series to get the impedence about right that the stock TBI drivers could run them. Might want to contact them and act like you have their system but lost the wiring and need some help/advice to steer you in the right direction, etc, etc.

Heck, they might be able to just sell you the injector wiring that came with their kit and then you'd be close to plug-n-play (only need to make sure the wires are long enough to snake around a TPI intake and reach all the injectors- they would probably fit without any modification if I had to guess).

How do you plan to reprogram the 94/95 PCM?
