what cam with stock valvetrain 305
Hey i'm throwing in a 305 tpi auto in my rs for awhile. I heard the cam in it (an 88 iroc z) is crap. I would like to hit low 14's high 13's. So far I have 4.11's posi, a shift kit, msd dist, K&N filters.
I'm getting The hooker super comp headers and 3" Y which should help. I'm just not sure what cam to go with. I'm thinking if I went with a different intake and cam I could get 13's. I have been looking for an Lt1 intake but not sure as it doesnt bolt up correctly? I found one on ebay but i'm not sure it will fit. It says something about the dist to work with a 1990 camaro ecm or something.

There's the item, Hopefully you guys can tell me if that will work on my 305.
As for cam with the stock valvetrain. What should I go with. I don't really want to mess with valve springs ect. This is just a mess around motor. NOthing that i want to get seriously tied up into. THanks for your time in helping me , later.

with stock valve train its kinda limited... i think ur gonna have to stay under .450 inches of lift or something like that. but a few guys with L98's and 1.6 rockers are up over .460 so i dont know. gotta find out what max lift on the heads are
else a good choice would be either the LT1 or LT4 (non hot cam) cams. they are decent for TPI and would work wiht the stock valve train more than likely.
else i would seriously look into installing better springs and components to handle a .500 inch lift cam and put in something like a 210-212 intake, 215-220 on exhaust like cam with near .500 inch of lift if not abit under that. should be a great cam to get a 305 into the 13s. compucam 210/220 would be nice, so is the LPE 211 for TPI
