Replacing injectors, any recomendations?

I'm going to replace my injectors, in my 86 TPI 305. I was wanting to get something from summit, since I live only 45 minutes from there, and wanted some suggestions. What is a fairly inexpensive, good set of injectors to go with? I will not me modding this engine heavy. Most I am gonna do down the road will be a better cam, maybe port and polish the heads, and intake and runners. Nothing extreme. I also think I may put a standard transmission in it. I need new injectors though now, so would it be ok to stick with the stock 19#? Also, what else can I do when I get it all apart? Can someone direct me to a step by step portin process for the intake? Thanks fellas.

Search button is your best friend here

Search for injectors and SVO

Search for porting intake and plenum.

Search under TPI cams

Personally, learn how to tune right now before u change anything at all. There is gains to be made on the stock setup thru tuning alone. Let alone it will pay huge dividends as u modify the engine. Also you could step up the injector size slighlty and account for it thru the chip

If you are not going to mod the heck out of it, then simply buy an AFPR (adjustable fuel pressure regulator). By turning up the fuel pressure, a 19#/hr injector can flow as much as 22#/hr.

I have a Holley AFPR, its a great piece and fuel pressure changes are easy to make.

BTW: If those injectors are the original ones from the factory, you could get them clean and flow checked. That is what I did with my original factory installed injectors.

If you got to buy new injectors, then get the 19#/hr Ford Motorsports injectors at Summit, along with an AFPR. The FMS injectors are the most cost effective injectors you can buy.

If you're not going to customize the chip, then definately stick with 19 lb/hr 305 injectors.
If you change the chip you can use the inexpensive LS1 type injectors.

the best answer depends on what you decide to do with the chip.

I just finished installing the SVO 19lb injectors into my 91 305, I also installed a AFPR, since you will be in there any way. There is a great article in the tech article section on replacing your injectors, I had this out with me in the garage. Vader also had a nice article on porting the plenum. I also did a coolant bypass since the throttle body was off anyway.

Good luck
