Starting problem-injector problem?????
Starting problem-injector problem?????
First off, I have done numerous searchs and not found an answer. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Background: The car is a 1992 Z28 305 auto, it sat for over a year in nonrunning condition (I bought it that way) with 1/4 tank of gas.
I replaced the starter and battery, fluids and such and got her fired up. I was letting her run and it shut off. Never could get it restarted. I was going to do a tuneup anyway so I replaced cap, rotor, plugs, wires, coil. Now it cranks fine with spark, but no fuel is coming out of the injectors (at least the 2 cylinders that we took plugs out of). The fuel pump is supposedly new and it hums just fine. There is plenty of fuel coming out of the schader valve, but the first bit was dark brown and tarnished.
Could the rails and injectors be that plugged not to fire? I replaced the fuel filter, added a couple gallons of fresh gas and some in tank cleaner before I tried starting it the second time. The injector fuses are fine in the passenger compartment. I put a volt meter on number 1 injector and was reading from 4-7 volts while cranking. I have not ohmed them yet-still working on getting fuel rail and all out of the car.
Thanks,
Chris

The two injectors at 6.5 ohm are now junk.(car should more than likely run though so u may hav eother issues as well)
That means the windings are going bye bye.
They are unserviceable.
Personally I would invest in a new set of injectors as I believe u have multecs in their and they are failing already, might as well get a whole set.
Second, I would get all old gas out of the tank. Best be would be too siphon it out. Change the fuel filter and get fresh gas in the tank.
Then get your new injectors and install them.
As far as the car not starting again, have u checked the basics? Are you getting spark, are the injectors pulsing?

I agree, I need new injectors. Probably go with FMS 19#. The battery was at 11.5-11.8 volts when I was trying to start it. My buddy was holding the wires by the boots and there was spark, not alot but some. All new MSD components are on the car. The plugs were not even wet after 20 seconds of cranking. I check the leads on one injector and it was pulsing up to 7 or 8 volts. And that plug had nothing on it. I should have actually used the fuel pressure gauge before taking apart the car. The pump hums and everything, just don't know it it is keeping pressure.
