I'm sure someone has.

From what I've been able to gather in research, this is a clone of the Wells SU-145 MAF, which is evidently no longer easily available. That MAF uses a thick-film sensor array instead of the fragile hot wire, and is therefore virtually indestructible, save from serious mechanical damage. I've been using the Wells MAF since April of '99, after a single backfire took out the hot wire on the original Bosch unit.

There seems to be some legal pissing contest over who owns the rights to the design. I find the whole thing rather odd, since the Micro-Tech web site links to other sites indicating they applied for a patent on the thick-film design sometime in 1993, while Hitachi was manufacturing thick-film MAF sensors in 1990. Sounds like a lot of legal doublespeak, monkey-spank bullcrap to me, but that's just a single opinoin. Regardless, if it is indeed the same, it's worth the cost.
