Out of Tune?

I have been reading around and have had a couple people tell me that they think my car might be out of tune. The motor is all stock, little free flowing exhaust and a 2200 stall converter, nothing major. Now the best i have had the car run is a 15.1 in the 1/4 mile. The car runs fine no misses or anything noticable. Has a new cap and rotor, plugs and wires, some emissions work done to it. People are saying a 350TPI car should be in the 14's easy, some say low 14's. The only idea i have heard is that maybe my timing is off. Personaly i have no knowledge on how to check this or fix it for that matter, but i would like to know if anyone has another few on what i could be looking at. Thanks for any input.

1st off, what gears are in it? 2nd, what were your 60' times?

I was running 14.7(1.94 60') w/ nothing but a K&N and a 3" cat-back exhaust, and my car is a tank.(rag top, huge stereo, etc...) I had a good 700r4, 3.27 gears(factory 9-bolt), and an all-stock 130k mile L98...

not sure whether your problem is tune, or driving related... although your numbers aren't bad for an essentially stock car. it seems some just run better than others. My buddies hard top only ran 15.2's L98, 700r4, 3.27's w/ a cat-back and the TPIS "power pack"(fuel reg, air foil, air filter, plugs...)

60' - 2.356
330- 6.445
1/8 - 9.811
MPH - 71.00
1000 - 12.728
1/4 - 15.191
MPH - 91.96

These were the times i had, didnt notice how bad my 0-60 time was till now haha. As far as gears go it has the stock 273's i belive nothing special. Im going to have to bring it back to the track and see if i cant improve that 0-60, my old tires didnt help much. Yeah i have a K&N filter with 3" from the cats back also.

Total of 5 91's in my personal friends group over the years and the slowest was 14.6 at 94. Rest are mph higher and/or run faster times. I am only talking street tires here also.

Your 60 ft sucks lol

Get them to 1.9 - 2.1 range on street tires and you should be in line with a stocker :-)

Or get some MT's and see how far you can push it.

Is your car a factory 350? U say 2.73's if it is a factory 350 than u have 3:23 in the rear.

Also setting the timing is part of a "tune up" it can significantly affect u.

Also ohm the injectors if the factory ones are still there, I know the 91 year had crappy ones :-) (mine have been replaced on both) Should be near 17ohm.
