2-Questions for You guys....
Couple questions from a new IROC-Z owner. I am looking to put a Stall in the car next spring and was wondering what was recomended by all you guys who have had these cars for awhile....
1987 IROC-Z
TPI 5.7
60 over
Cam (9.5 to 1 comp.)
Ohio Pistins rings...etc...
Adj. Fuel pres. Reg.
Shift Kit.
Hypertech chip that Has been burned to modify further....
I am seeing that there is some cheap modification that can be done wth the intake and am getting some great pointers. Love this site and will continue to learn from you guys....
Other question that I have is that, this is my first winter with this car and is getting stored. Never seen snow/salt... and want to keep it this rust free!!!
I put a full tank in the car with a pint of sea foam and put it in the 10x20 storage stall with a car cover. Any other pointers that you guys could help me out with... Do I start the car once a week? Not start it at all during storage? Any information that you can give me would be awesome...... Thanks in advance!!!

Since nobody else is answering,
the Vigilante and Yank brands are great, but there is another that is cheaper and said to be of equal if not better quality.

I'd stay far away from the really cheap converters.

WI-Z,
It's your choice. If you didn't remove the battery, it may be a good idea to start the car and allow it to warm thoroughly every month or so. IN our area, there is usually at least one decent weekend every month during winter when it could be started, moved out, and allowed to warm up.
As for the SeaFoam, I'm not a big fan of storing (or even operating) a vehicle with water in the fuel tank. I've had far better luck with §taßil to prevent gumming and a little 2-cycle oil to keep the injectors and cylinders wet with oil. My T/A has been stored every winter since 1986.
If you want to perform some intake modifications, you may have a great window of opportunity right now. You can remove and port the plenum, runners and base, and send the injectors off for service while all that is being done. The porting has been outlined and documented here, in various threads.
The TC is your call. Just make sure you get one with a decent (carbon) TCC and a stall RPM that isn't beyond the range of torque production for a TPI engine. Along with the brands mentioned, the Edge converters seem to be earning a good name for themselves. Even the GM factory V-6 converters are an improvement over stock, and have a warranty. Those designed for the Vortec L35 V-6 and Corvette L98 are a decent choice at a decent price. They have a K-Factor (stall RPM) of around 2,200, which may be a little low with stock gearing but is a good street converter.

I like my Vigi's.
They arent cheap but they work wonderfully.
If they arent in your budget, go with somehting like vader said and shhot for the 24-2500 rpm range.

PATC (home of the Raptor trans) has some good converters for a good price... I also agree w/ Vader, Stabil and take the time to port the intake, and do the "free mods".
