I've got a jet chip it's brand new and i haven't installed it yet so I can still return it. if it's true they do very little, only change shift points is all. would it be a better idea to return the chip and get a transpack for the tranny wich I was gonna do anyway and spend the money from the chip on 1.6 roller rockers. I've installed a set of shorties. a very custom y- pipe that goes all the way back to the 3" pipe to flowmaster muffler.tps airfoil, MSDignition "coil cap, 8.5 wires, crane cams adjustable pressure regulator and done a little freeing up of the plennums. also while I'm putting it all back together I've forgotten were a few of the vacum lines go back ie: egr valve is there anywere I can get diagrams I have a chiltons but it doesn't tell you a whole lot?

 

I can't understand how a chip controls shifts points since you car don't have a electronic trans (4L60E) the only thing it can control is the lock-up on the convertor @mybe a diffrent MPH.


a mail order chip is bogus. Why, cause each car performs different. you need to data log and car to see where timing tables,fuel table and such need to be tuned for your combo. and that takes time to do. But if you want to get all it has to offer start learning to burn your own chips or take it to someone who can. so you can unlock all there is to offer.

send jet the pos chip back and spend the money on the roller rockers. then get somebody to datalog the car and burn a chip for it.

 

thanks for the help. I've got everything back together now all I have left to do is hook up my exhaust. Ive been working on sbchevys for a long time but this is the first on a TPI system. I have a solenoid on a bracket thats left to hook up it has a plug for some wires on one end with a vacum fitting and on the other end there's two vacum ports one on top of each other and I have no Idea were the vacum lines go to and also I don't know were the egr valve vacum line goes to. It wouldn't be that bad but I travell for a living and the car gets put on the back burner the only time i get to work on it is a couple nights a month for a hour or two at a time so over the time its been apart i've forgotten were the vacum lines go
