350 - 383 question
a friend wrecked his gta w/ a tpi 383. hes parting the motor out but said he would just give me the 3.75 crank. will this crank work in my rebuilt 5.7 w/ just under 12k or should i just leave it alone?

More work.
383 pistons have a higher wrist pin location due to the added throw on the stroke.
So that means new pistons also. And normally 383 crank is used with a 4.030 bore, getting the 383 Cubic Inch. If you used it with a 4.00 bore you would recieve only 377 stroker. Which means pistons could be hard to find to match that bore size.
In other words... bearings, pistons, bore job, rings, etc.... Might be nice to have a spare crank though, you might decide to build another motor using a different block.
