Engine: Clean oil, looks fresh, no leaks
Transmission: Bright Red, never burnt, no leaks
Axle/Gears: currently whining
pics? pics?
i would like to see engien pics of early 80's and up to 92 iroc..im getting an iroc camaro tomorrow but i still have to visualy see and inspect it,.,.it does have a v8 so i would like to see all the possible engins it could have im guessing it will be a 305

It could have a TBI 305, TPI 305, or a TPI 350(8th digit in the vin will be an 8)
TBI 305 will be obvious, looks like a carb'd car lol.
You can also look on the underside of the hood.
While the hood is up and you're facing it, look to the top left of it. Should say something about the motor...I'd get a pic, but I'm not exactly near my car right now.

Engine: TPI 350ci L98
Transmission: T56 - Hurst Shifter
Axle/Gears: BW - 3.70
The 305 TPI & 350 TPI look the same. You'll have to check the VIN number to know for sure. Like 86bird said the 305 TBI will look like a carbureted engine.
Here is a picture of the engine in my 87 IROC. This is the 350 TPI.
What year Camaro are you getting? Post a picture if you get it.
If I were you I would hold out and get one with a 350. They generally don't cost much more and the extra hp & torque is nice. Especially if you play to do any engine modifications later. Of course you could always get a crate engine later if the HP bug bites ya.

85- LG4 305 4bbl, L69 4bbl HO, Lb9 305 tpi
86- Same as 85
87-lg4 305 TBI,LB9, L98 350 tpi
88- L03 replaces lg4
89-same
90-same
Performance models were 350tpi L98 and Lb9 305 tpi. Also later models usually make more power. Check out the tech section on the homepage.
