TPI runner *****

I'm about to buy a chrome steel ball from www.mscdirect.com to use for knocking small dings out of my runners. These sell on ebay for $45 for a set of 4 or 5. I'll let you know if one will do the job.

This is from the MSC cart;

Guess why they sell 4-5 on ebay.

Figured it out yet? It's because you need 4-5 for them to work. Just pushing that through by hand probably won't work, and using tools risk damaging the part you're trying to save. Good luck although its probably cheaper just to get a used set in the classifieds without dents.

Why not buy SLP runners, I got mine delivered for 273 dollars. Ther stock runners suck BIG TIME, maybe the worst part of the setup(as the base really sucks too). In my opinion fixing the horrible stock runners is like buying a diamond ring for a crack *****, or as useful as flushing it down the toilet. The SLP's would give you a solid 10-12 HP and much more if you upgrade the base. I just hate to see people waste money when a little more would put a big smile on your face when you floor it.

Wasn't thinking of fixing them performance wise just get the dents out for looks.And my combo runs better times with the stock runners than the ported SLP on the 305

Thats hard to imagine, I saw several SLP runners installed when I was in Lincoln Tech and they did before and after dyno pulls on all 5 cars which had various work, but the worst I ever saw was 9 RWHP increase on a stock 305 firebird, 3 were modified and made 12-18 RWHP depending on the car. Why would your car run faster with an intake that stops flowing at 4700 RPM? Or is the sytem modified in other ways that I don't know about? Maybe TPIS's Large tube runners instead? But I am still lost as to why your car would run better with a worse flowing set of runners. Any car from a Honda to a Ferrari will create more power from a more free flowing intake? Please do explain.

can't really explain but I've switched between the SLP's that came with the ported intake system from a board member here back to the stock one's that I gasket matched to the ported & siamesed plenium and it runs 2 tenths faster with the stock runners on my set up.Been switching them back & forth for over 3 yrs now with the same results.

Wow thats crazy. One thing, you said you had a siamesed plennum, how with stock runners? Wouldn't it just be a solid flange? That would defeat the purpose of the siamese wouldn't it?

And these are the stock runners since I've been the only owner of this IROC.Have made over 10 runs in the 13's with the stock runners but with the ported SLP's never better than 14.0's

What are the 60' times, my only guess could be that the smaller runners are giving you a tad more low end torque and could improve your 60' x's, but then your trap speed would be lower? Maybe the port work on the plennum kind of messed it up if not done properly, it really is an art, because there is no other explanation, a higher rev limit should lower your times, that really is weird???

1.9 60' w/ both runners...only thing I could come up with is the velocity of the air is making the difference

I'm fairly creative with metal, so who says you need 5 STEEL *****. I'm confident it will be fine for my little red wagon and i'll lose the stinkin' holley.
