TPI Pullys??

I was reading an artical in gm high tech performance and there was a segment in there about the best power mods for all of the popular gm engines. I read that supposibly a pully upgrade on a 5.0tpi brought 11 horse power increase is this a worthy mod or is this just bull.

TPI pullies

well i dunno about how much gains i got from them. but on my L98 i noticed a pretty good bit of diffrence from a idle to WOT diffrence.

this set was given to me so i dunno about the brand but it had a ALT and Crank pulley. but i think my buddy said they were the march brand not real sure tho.

how much are UD pullies going for? cause if they are going for a good size chunk of change i would say save your monies and buy a set of headers or a good cat back system.

I dont think they are worth the money for a street car. Just my opinion though.

I had a good improvement in throttle response on my lb9. It knocked 2 tenths off my time but I didn't pay much for them ----30.00 on ebay March 2 piece underdrive set. No charging problems either.

I think they are worth the $$, you probably won't feel it in your buttometer, but 11hp in ten places is 110hp, so every little bit counts.

I just read an article in Power & Performance magazine. They were doing dyno runs on a ZZ454, just for the heck of it they bumped dyno #'s with electric wp, stock wp with under drive pulleys, stock wp with stock pulleys, results were eye opening.

Electric pump; 508hp, 540tq
Stk pump/stk pulleys; 498hp, 531tq
Stk pump/underdrive pulleys; 501hp, 535tq

So even in a big block, you pay for accessories, how much do you want to pay? The under drives took 7hp while stock pulleys took 10hp. So I'd say 11hp is attainable and its easy.
