Will valve train from my LT1 work on my L98?

Heres the deal. When I had my LT1 (96) I bought every thing needed to install a Hot cam. Such as springs, retainers, valve locks, roller rockers, seats, and such. I never installed the kit and it has been sitting for the last three years. I want to put it to good use so it's not money down the drain.

I no longer have my LT1 but want to install a Comp Cam 224/230 .502/.510 112 LSA

Will my valve train from my LT1 work with my L98 with no trouble?
Thanks,
Aaron.

As far as I know you should not have any issues. You should be able to use that stuff on any small block. If you are going to run roller rockers do you have hardened guide plates and pushrods?

the roller rockers you have should be self-aligners, therefore you wouldn't need guide plates+hardened pushrods. - as for the springs and such, yes, they'll work fine. Biggest thing is that you need to check install height on the springs to make sure your spring pressure is correct. - I use the factory LT1 springs on every motor I freshen(stock or minor perf) because they're good to 510 lift, and I can buy springs/retainer/locks for $30.

Thanks for the info guys! I do have the self-aligner RR's. How would I check the install height on the springs? I have isky springs advertised to .555 lift.

One more thing, ive been looking at replacing the valve covers once I do the cam. Would LT4 valve covers fit and clear my 1.6 RR's?

Thanks!
Aaron.

You don't. You check install height on the heads with your valve & retainer combo.

You will probably not need your spring seats or shims on your iron L98 heads.
