WIll my 82 Hood close with this intake?

I have a 82 Z-28 that came with Cross-Fire. The eng is an 87 TPI from a GTA. I was running the GTA air cleaner that goes over to the right side where my batt used to be.

I found an air intake from a 87 Camaro that has the 2 small air cleaners on each side of the hood latch.
Does anyone know if my 82 CFI hood will close with the 87 Camaro intake/air filter set-up??

Thx!!

i just put a fiberglass hood that came off a crossfire car on my car. i have that intake and i had to do some cutting under the hood to clear the intake. is ur hood metal because it could be different then.

My hood isn't metal, it's a SMC (Sheet Molded Compound) hood with the operable shutter that allows cold air into the air cleaner. It's the original 82 Cross-Fire hood.
How much cutting did you have to do?? I hate to compromise the integrity of it.

I did the same, put a 83 Z28 'glass hood on my '85 tpi. To determine the cuts, I outlined the air snorkel with anti sieze, and slowly closed the hood down on the snorkel so that the anti sieze would mark the hood. I cut out about a 7x3" on each side? Wasn't bad at all and not much of the actual metal cut either.

i did the same exact thing with some synthetic rease instead of anti seaze. just painted the lid then put the hood down then cut out around it.

I'm running an 82/83 SMC hood on my 89 IROC-Z with the stock TPI and TPI intake tubes (the two air filters, one on each side of the latch). I got no clearance issues with the stock TPI or the tubes, but so far I've been unable to find a strut tower bar that will fit.
