My ideal air lid/intake/MAF system for 3rd gens

I want a new designed air lid with an outlet diameter of 3.5" or 90mm,,, feeding into a 90mm MAF sensor, then a 4" dia tube into the intake. The intake is of a new design made similar to the LS6 intake manifolds, low setting, composite type. dream, dream, dream.

This would elimenate any talk of air restrictions on a MAF car.

Any opinions. Who's with me on this?

How do us 3rd genners make this happen?

..... or how about some painted 3 to 4 inch muffler pipe for $25-$50, 3 or 4 "Turbo Pipe" clamps for $20, and have fun? A stock MAF is all that's really required into the high 11's anyway.

For help, it would seem a company that has a CAD system and molding capability is required, at least for the air lid and the air filter tray.

We would need to re-design the air lid to have a 3.5' or 4" outlet, and (one part I forgot) we need to design a molded piece that replaces the air filter tray (for Camaros). This tray would be like the one I have. It has sections that go down below the filters and turns forward where my fog lamps were mounted. Its a true ram air system.

Also, a serious effort would have to put into the composite intake manifold. This would need to be done by a company with lots of experience with intake manifolds. This piece could be made out of aluminum alloy if necessary.

This system would include a modified MAF that is mounted in a 4" tube OR a completely new 90mm MAF. The MAF will need pieces to connect it to the air lid and the TB.

After drawings are done, prototype pieces need to be manufacturered and the fit tested and performance tested.

3.5" would be plenty for the lid. In fact one with a true 3" intake will add a few ponies. The factory one is a little smaller than 3".

I agree, 3.5" is good. Having a 4" tube coming out of the air lid would be difficult to fit correctly. However we would need a 3.5" to 4" coupler to fit to the TB. And this coupler is readily (sp) available.
