Get ir really really high in the air on jackstnads(good ones) or on a lift.
U dont have to drop the rear down and out, just down, unbolt the shocks and let it hand, u shouldnt have to drop it out completely from the car.
Makes it easier if u unbolt the fuel/brkae line holders running down the trans tunnel for some extra slack.

Hi,
Just did mine on 87 Iroc and like said, un bolt fuel-brake bracket
and bend down as much as you can. Try to get rear as far down
as you can. The Pass side top of housing and the panhard bar
bracket are the main obstructions. Might have to play with it for
awhile. I also found that if you bend the lip down on the bottom
of the filler neck housing will go back easier.
