Pretty hard to read your paragraph... Are you saying that you have a 9-bolt now?? I really don't know what you're asking.. Obviously, you can't buy a posi meant for a 7.5" RG 10-bolt and put it in the BW 9-bolt..
When you do buy a differential, you will be stuck with whatever axle size you buy it for (if you get one for 26 spline axles, thats all it'll be able to use).

If you buy the posi for 26 spline axles, then no, you won't be able to go 28 spline WHEN the 26's break. You'll be stuck w/ 26, or with buying another posi/locker to fit the 28 spline axles. Then you have the good axles and case and could still end up chunking a gear when the 10-bolt case flexs under power. - If you've got $600, live with the 2.77 until you have enough for a 9 inch or 12-bolt. Sounds to me like you're planning more than enough power to desintegrate a 10-bolt.
If you can't afford to do it right the first time, can you afford to do it again?
