Just started thinking about this, nowhere near my TPI so I can't even look to see how feasible this is, but on a stock TB, would it be beneficial/possible to remove some of the metal on the throttle shaft where the blades bolt up?

I know this is commonly done on carbs to increase their flow capability, but just not sure if it's something that could be done on the TPI TB.

Not talking about expecting 50 extra CFM out of it, advantage on a stock motor, or anything like that, more just a discussion about whether it is possible, or if GM had already done it, or reasons why it would be utterly pointless. I checked for threads, didn't find anything relating to it.

I'm sure it's been discussed or looked at already, just having a hard time finding anything about it. Even pictures of the stock throttle shaft setup.

 

Sure. On my 1000cfm Holley I "upgraded" the screws that hold on the butterflies with button head allen screws in place of the regular Allen head ones. Also the next size shorter so that they barely stick out the other side. Lock Tighted them in.

I probably did not gain much but it was easy to do while I had it off for maybe $1.00.

 

Yeah when I had mine rebushed, had the shafts thinned out, different profiled screws and the casting cleaned up. With a airfoil the stock TB flowed 785cfm.
