Tpi Help!!
I've converted a 1987 Camaro 2.8L into a 355 Mass Air TPI (stupid idea). The guy who did the work, Bob Riley of Riley's Rods in Burbank, really screwed alot of the stuff up and then sold the shop to someone else before moving to Arizona.
After the sale, I got the car back and was told that all it needed was a prom burn to get it straight. At that time the thing was running like crap because I have a 305 TPI chip in it and the car has all new 24lb injectors, larger runners, 1000 CFM throttle body, headers, mildly hotter cam, 10:1 compression ratio, etc. (all the stuff is CARB legal though). After a year of waiting for Steve Cole's schedule to open up, I decided to take the car back to the same shop and let the new owners try and fix the it completely.
They got the thing running and I was told that it now starts right up and idles at 800 RPM and doesn't stall but that the PROM still needs to be burned. FINE - NO PROBLEM. Then I get a call telling me that they opened up the dash to check out why some of my guages weren't working and found bedlum. Evidently, BOB had made a mess - wires were exposed and cut up, some were spilced and held together with electrical tape and others were just twisted together, etc.
So I need someone, in the Los Angeles area, who's familiar with the TPI system so that I can take this car to them and have this mess sorted out. The guy from the shop says that I should have the entire car rewired and that it'll cost me $6,000 plus to get it done. I don't think that it's necessary to rewire the car. I mean, the car is running and there's nothing wrong with the engine/fuel management system other than the need for a PROM burn.
SO, All I need is someone who knows the 1987 camaro Mass Air TPI electrical.
ANYONE LIKE THAT OUT HERE? HELP!! ANY AND ALL ADVICE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I would not advise driving it with 24# injectors and a 305 memcal/chip in it, you will hurt it.
Short of someone posting all the pertinent wiring diagrams here, your best bet is to cough up and get the appropriate GM manuals..
It will cost u a little unless u find them on ebay.
Was the harness a factory one of was it aftermarket like a Painless?(painless uses factory colors in wiring)
Once u get the manuals, trace a circuit at a time and work it thru in its entirety for the guages that dont work.
There shouldnt have been a need to hack up much dash wiring beyond the c100 connector and one other on the pass side of the dash.
Give us any info u can and get a hold of GM wiring diagrams.

Wiring Harness
Thanks for the reply. I won't be driving the car since it's tags expired back in 2001.
The wiring harness was my old 2.8's converted for a 350 TPI by someone who I met on here. The work on the harness is fine because the car is running and all of the systems check out. The only guages that don't work are the fuel guage and the speedo. I figure since the speedo is mechanical on that car, the wiring has nothing to do with it.
However, the headlights work, the wipers work, the taillights and brake lights work. So I figure there isn't anything wrong with the wiring.
I just want to find someone who is knowledgeable in that model car in the Los Angeles area just so I can be sure.
