LT1 Injectors
Hey guys, so I've come across a set of LT1 injectors that I'm going to try in my car since I think my injectors are bad (lose fuel PSI way too quickly). I've got them sitting in a bowl of injector cleaner right now, and I had some questions. When I removed them from the manifold, there were indications of lots of rust. I'm talking about an extremely thin layer of rust at the very top of each injector.
Was this what the little fuel screen used to be, or is that deeper inside the injectors? Provided that I let them sit overnight and make sure they are all thoroughly cleaned, should they be OK to put in my car? Thanks

Soaking the entire injector may admit solvent (cleaner) through the electical connector and into parts of the solenoid coil that may not react well to it. You may want to dry them out completely, allow them to sit for a few weeks, then measure resistances to make sure you didn't dissolve any insulation varnish on the solenoid windings.
If the coils are still intact, you can either try them, or send them off for cleaning and evaluation. If you send them to www.cruzinperformance.com they will be flow-matched, and return with new inlet screens.

you can always count on vader for an insightful reply... thanks man! I have the injectors sitting out now, I think I might go pick up an ultrasonic cleaner from harbor freight and toss them in that for a little bit. Is that a good idea? I'll test the resistance again before pulling my intake off to install them. thanks
