Cam lift????

Cam lift????
How much cam lift could I go with a stock motor???? I am going to buy heads sometime but dont really have the money right now. Also what else do I need to do when I get the cam installed???

.480" is abt the max the 350 tpi (083) heads are good for w/o mods. I believe the 305 heads are similiar.
If its a factory roller cam eng, you can probably re-use the lifters.
If it's a non factory roller cam (flat tappet), you'll need new lifters.
Installing new valve springs (matched to the cam) is a very good idea.
The pushrods may be re-useable. You will have to use a pushrod checker to verify if they are the correct length.
I'd replace the timing chain/gears unless they have been recently replaced.
