Dropping Fuel Pressure

A little while ago before I put the car back into storage I had a few test drives and monitored a few systems.

One of those systems was the fuel system, more to the point fuel pressure. I noticed from a standing start and going to WOT the fuel pressure would gradually reduce from 48psi to about 30psi by the time I was at the 1/4 mile mark.

Both intank and external filters where brand new.

Any comments or thoughts, is this normal?
Is the pressure measured the pressure going to the injectors, or the pressure in the return line?

Thanks guys.

BTDT. Your fuel pump is dying and needs to be replaced.
