lifters too?

I have been thinking about getting a new camshaft for my peanutted one. While the engine is torn down I also plan to add full exhaust, headers back, 1.6rrs, possibly a Big Mouth intake, and new valve springs. I may also do some porting and polishing on the heads, but im not sure yet. but when you replace camshafts, do you have to replace the lifters as well? And when you replace the camshaft, removing the heads isn't necessary right? Thank you

With your roller cam, you can use the original lifters with a new cam so long as the lifters are intact. Inspect the rollers and axles for wear, excessive clearances, and damage. If they are in good condition, use them again.

The heads can remain installed while the cam is being replaced. However, it you're going to install replacement springs, you might as well pull the heads and do it properly. If you're going to port the heads, they'll already be off anyway.
