pressurized?

Hi, im pretty new to the forum, but i have an 88 trans am, with the 5.0L v8, 305 tuned port injection, and i blew a head gasket. So i know, or am pretty posistive that its a pressurized fuel system, so what is the proper way to go about takin off the multi port system, and any other advice about this process would be apreciated, because i usually dont deal to much with the pressurized systems, thanks a lot

Remove the cap from the fuel pressure test fitting on the right fuel rail. Depress the center pin on the core of the test valve (just like a tire inflator valve) to bleed fuel pressure. Make sure the engine is cooled and the area is well ventiallated, since some liquid fuel may run from the port. Standard precautions for dealing with liquid and vaporized gasoline will be required, of course.

That's a rare option.

Once the fuel rail is de-pressurized you are clear to start removing the fuel rail and such. Be careful of the o-rings on the injectors, or better yet have a spare set to replace them anyways.

The pressure will rebuild itself when the fuel pump is next energized. Basically, once you are done replacing the headgasket, turn the key to "on", let the pump cycle, turn it off again and then try starting the car. It should start up just fine for you then.
