Easy way to get a temp gauge on non-3rd gen TPI?
Easy way to get a temp gauge on non-3rd gen TPI?
Hi, I have a SD TPI setup in my Jeep CJ7 and I'm trying to find a way to get a temp guage (preferrably electrical) hooked up. I have an earlier manifold with the 2 temp senders, and I'm only using the CTS, not the cold start. Can I plug some type of gauge into the other GM temp sender? If so, can I buy an aftermarket one from summit or something?
or, can I take some output off the computer (7730) for a temp readout?
Thanks for any help!

The two temp sensors your talking about go to the ecm only. you should connect the temp gauge to the sending unit on the drivers side head. on thirdgens the instrument cluster guage is run off the sending unit on the head not the ecm.
OK, thanks for the reply! I'll have to track this sender down. My motor was from an 86 corvette (L98) with steel heads. Too bad there isn't a fancy device that can interpret the signal from the GM sensors and relay it to an electronic gauge... Something smaller than my laptop
