Why does the water inlet fitting on the front of the manifold base that the coolant hose connects to and runs from the water pump, have such a small I.D.?
I see a washer in there as well that does'nt seem to do anything but restrict flow as well. There must be a reason?
Also, you will never believe. . . .I bought a digital camera. (got my first cell phone for christmas)
How do I post pictures on this site?
thx
Jeff

Washer ? are you referring to the thermostat, because I dont have any kind of washer on my waterneck on the coolant hose. I think you are talking about the thermostat. Its purpose is to open and close and specific temperatures to improve cooling of the motor. Stock thirdgens come with 195* thermostats.

I now know
If anyone cares the answer to my own question is to compensate for pressure drop through the heater core. Must have large and small hoses and they must correspond to the same size tubes in the heater core.
