If i take out the k&n's in my filter tray just for some strip action, will i see a difference. I tried a search, but i remember someone posting that the ridges on the filters smooth the incoming air... I have a ram-air set up thru the foglights, but it gets really restrictive over the radiator (stock airlid is thin). I was also considering taking off the airlid and adjusting my hood pins so the hood is slightly gapped and air gets a straight shot into the TB... Has anybody tried this? Im only going to do this at the track remember.

I think I tried it when i was stock and had my 88 formula 350, I dont think it did anything at all, plus running without a filter didnt even seem like a good idea but i wanted to try it anything.

I have a Ram Air hood and air box an my car and I also wondered about that.But when I recharge my filter I do notice some big'ol bugs stuck in there so if I try it it will be at the track or for a spin down the road and back.

I have a ram air setup thru the foglite area (lites are removed) and when I pull my K&N filters out my car gains another 1.5 MPH in the 1/4 mile.

I've seen cars back fire out the intake for not having the air filter on, it even happened on my 82 camaro after rebuild. On a 86-89 car it may cost you your MAF.

When I was running high 13's at 100 mph, I would gain 1 mph and .1 second by adding my ram air ducts that pull air from the foglight area. I haven't re-tested since I got down to the mid-12's at 110 mph, but probably will this summer or fall. As far as running without an air filter, I wouldn't want to risk having the engine suck something in and ruining a good day at the track.
