how do you clean fuel lines
Over the last few weeks I've had some problems with my fuel system. I have an inline pump and have had to clean/replace both my primary and secondary fuel filters three times. The primary filter is a cleanable Russel filter located between the tank and the pump, and the secondary filter is a stock Camaro filter located between the pump and the injectors. Typically, I would note the vehicle starting to studder on acceleration, giving me the impression that the motor is being deprived of fuel. Sure enough, when I remove the primary filter I note a bunch of crap on the screen. Each time I cleaned the primary filter, and replaced the secondary, the motor would run great. Yesterday I changed/cleaned the filters, but noted the same type of engine stumbling/hestitation on acceleration that is typical of a plugged filter, and now I'm thinking that the line is clogged.
My question is this - can I clean the line by simply disconnecting the pressure and return lines, and blowing air through the pressure line? I'm thinking that the air should blow straight through taking all the dirt and crap along with it, but I'm not sure if I will damage the fuel pressure regulator.
PS - I will be removing the fuel tank at the same time and having it flushed at a rad shop.
