17111267 they come in 5 packs from my understanding. This may be a ranty question to the populus but why do they come in packs of 5? It's like hot dogs which come in packs of 10 and the buns come in packs of 8. If you've got it apart I'd also go down to the parts store and get some O-ring kits too, they're like $2.50/injector. No use fighting it to find out you've got a nicked O-ring.

I would start with o rings first. the clips don't keep the injectors from leaking. They just hold the injectors to the rail. I don't have any clips on my TPI. No leaks.

I've never used the clips on my L98 injectors, LS1 injectors and also the SVO's. I've never had leaks. I would go with the above and get new O rings

interesting, i'm just going from personal experience, i was running ford injectors in my cavalier and they'd leak without the clips.

the damn clips are 7.95 a piece at the dealer

so i'll try the new orings first

If you have access to a u-pull-it JY, they're the same clips used on most similar year GM cars and should'nt cost anything.

You arent the first person to have leaks from missing clips. I'd do both the seals and clips, make sure it doesnt leak when its finished that way.

I dont have the clips in, and I dont have any leaks... but I have the svo style injectors which are shorter, so you cant really use them.

That being said, I have 2 sets of 5 clips that I can sell if you want them.

I think I paid $7.50 per set of 5 for them from the stealership.

Clips werent intended to hold the injectors in :-)

They were put there for assembly purposes on the line.

Ford or GM injectrors shouldnt leak on a stock or aftermarket TPI baseplate.

Believe me I've used every combination out there whether on my own or others cars.

U need o-rings or you pinched one, thats when they leak really good.

later

I really do have to agree. The SVO injector instructions actually tell you to just align them halfway between the fuelrail and the manifold. They are shorter too, which is why u cant use the clips. I have had no issues with leakage.

If you do want the clips though, $12 shipped for both packs.

Sounds like another issue of a bad sealing injector but ready to blame it on the clips. I have absolutley no clips on all 8 injectors and even punched the pressure up to 60 psi to check for leaks and they are dry as a bone. When I tighten down my fuel rail I cant even move the injectors at all so I know they are seating because of the clamping force of the rail on the intake.

I seriously doubt it. Thats not the only person, there were 2 others I can think of from years ago not to mention someone else that had problems with an Edelbrock base and the injector body hitting the manifold boss. Ever heard of people having to use spacers for the fuel rails? I have personally unseated an injector o-ring on a stock TPI manifold with SVO injectors and GM o-rings, just to prove a point that the clips arent useless. Maybe for most TPI's it is, and then there are the ones that need them. The tolerances from one manifold to another suck to say the least.

I had to add washers between the bottom of the fuel rail and the bolt holes sticking up from the manifold to keep the injector from seating too far into the bosses. Glad I didn't need the clips for the HSR manifold.

well what i noticed was when i stuck them in without the clips they'd sit up too high and they'd leak at the base of the manifold, just haveing the clip woudl give it the correct spaceing . but i think i'll just wiggle them out a little bit so they go more into the manifold.

should be getting to this, this weekend

Clips

Syn, I found the same thing, so I ended up getting clips just to make me feel better. I found that the O-rings of the injectors really need to be lubricated well so they will set into the intake and rail properly.

If you are looking for clips this is what I found here:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tpi/...ing-clips.html

These are all different part numbers for the same clip and prices are current as of 08/09/05:

Borg-Warner #28417 = $1.29 each @ O'Reilly Auto
AC Delco #17111267 = $6.67 each @ GM dealer
GP-Sorensen #800-9417 = $3.99 each @ Auto Zone
Summit #MSD-2110 = $4.88 for 8 @ Summit ($9.00 shipping)
