MAF replacement
Yo guys, How do you remove that crimped-on clamp that holds the MAF to the plastic air cleaner housing? The outlet side is connected with a conventional hose clamp so that is easy. But that inlet side clamp is on there to stay. Is it necessary to use a Dremel to cut it off? And then, what do you use to put it back together?
I'm chasing down a code 33 problem, and may need to replace my MAF. Where can I get a replacement OEM Bosch unit that won't cost me my left nut?
Thanks.

if its the one im thinking about, its just like a hose clamp, or it has a handle that releases /locks it
check for that before u get out the dremel

I can't find mine at the moment, but IIRC, the clamp 'hooked' together at the open end. One side had a tiny hole, and the other side had a tiny post. And when they overlapped, the post 'hooked' through the hole... kind of like a hook-and-loop thing.
It wasn't easy to separate, but I was very persistent and kept sqeezing the ends until I could pop it open. It was one of those times when we wish we had a third hand. Closing it was 'reverse of removal.'
For a replacement MAF, try sponsor TPIParts.net. He has both, new and rebuilt GM/Bosch MAFs.
There's also the Micro-Tech MAF, which is supposed to be better and even flow a little more than the stock MAF. Kragen shows it for $231, new, which is similar in price to a rebuilt Bosch unit. I'm not sure how much your left one is worth, but a new Bosch would probably cost you both!
