maf power and burnoff relay questions

I got a 86 tpi and the wires going into the relay connectors are pulled apart. I got 88 parts car with the new style connectors and relays. Can I put the new style connectors and relays on my 86. The wires all look the same and I was hoping I could just cut the old connectors off and splice the new style connectors to my harness.
Any suggestions?

You can retrofit the newer style connectors and relays, or repair what you already have. The contacts can be rejected from the connector body, cleaned and soldered, and retensioned so the contacts remain firmly in the connector body.

Whichever way you go, you'll have to completely clean then grease the connectors with dielectric grease to prevent corrosion and moisture infiltration.
