Hopefully last Thread on this idling/missing problem... Details!
Ok, so i've had this idle/missing problem... Everytime i think i know what it is i figure something else out and it changes my mind. I've jumped back and forth from spark to fuel. Well i know its spark. At idle, once it idles down, it sometimes will be at the 600 mark and other times will be at 500 or lower. I know being a factory gage they don't always read true. Anyways its a small miss and probley the average person would just deal with it but having the only 91 t/a that runs around my town and probley most of the surrounding towns around me i want to roll up to a light it sound good and not be missing.
Ok i'm thinking when my coil took the crap on me, btw it would miss really bad when the coil would get hot so i bought a msd coil for it and put it on a stopped most of my new missing problems and back just to the old one now. I'm thinking either bad coil inside an injector ( which i haven't even tested the ohms on them yet but this week it will happen ) or a bad plug.
Now to clearify that. When i bought the car and did a tune up i didn't gap the a/c delco plugs and it fixed a lot of my idling problems. But of course there was more but fixed now. When i did my last tune up about a month ago i gapped them to .35 and now the miss is back... Why would this be?
Ok now on the timeing. Since i took out my whole distr. i decided to pretty much replace everything and pretty much did. Rotor , cap, ignition mod.
When i put it back together i got a phone call and had to rush up the road real quick and didn't have a chance to time it. I did notice though the miss was gone and it was idling the best i had ever seen the car idle since i've had it. Well i knew the timing was REALLY retarded and hooked my timing light up to when i got home. It was like 10* ATDC and i kind of figured cause i had no power. Well i took it back up to 6* BTDC and my missing problem came back. ( BIG DISAPPOINMENT ) Think it might be something with the plugs? or maybe that faulty injector i may have. WIll keep updated on them during the week when i test the injectors and change plugs.
I thought at first maybe the timing had jumped a tooth so i played with the timeing forever and found at 2* BTDC it would idle pretty much with no miss and still go just not have any nuts. ( btw i have it on 4* cause it seems to work the best for now )
MAIN QUESTION. This is what stumps me the most i guess.
Most of the evenign while i was changing and seeing what * my car liked the best and not once did it ever move the timing mark when the connector was unhooked UNTILL the last time i did it. It would go from say for 6* BTDC to 4*
BTDC real quick and it would miss and then go back.... WTF!!!! Cause it wasn't doing it earlier ( timing chain getting hot and gettin slack????? donno )
ALSO when i was timing it and i really couldn't tell a difference in the motor speed cause didn't have my under the hood tac with me but the idle sounded steady or so what i could tell. The flash on my timing light would speed up and slow down.... never moved off the mark until it missed and nothing was really constant... Never noticed this timing any other vehicles. What would cause my light to do that??? Btw it is new
IS this right... WHen i let the computer take back over it would go from say 6* BTDC to probley somewhere around 14* or maybe a couple degress higher. I don't remeber my blazer doing that when i timed it.... But it was v6 TBI and this a v8 TPI
So Feedback would be AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THank you so much
Derrick
New egr
Tps ( set right )
IAC ( whole thing got cleaned when i put new egr in it )
starter
fuel filter
dist. cap
rotor
ign. mod.
Coil
plugs
wires
o2 sensor
Ya know the basic tune ups
Want to run right before i beef it up to be a big billy bad A**

I know most of my threads have been long but i am the type of guy that if i am going to ask for help i will explain everything that way the person who is helping me knows as much as possible!
Ok here is an update. I did a lot of searching and trying to find someone that has the SAME problem as i do.... I have not found one yet. Close but no cookie. So i've been doing what other people have been to kick things off the check list.
Ok i checked all the volts in all 8 injectors... All was around 13.50 to around bout 13.65 which if i am correct is normal. BUT when i was back probing the injector for cylinder #5 it seem to have a more notiable pulse. Also i took the clip off and unplugged the injector while it was running ( hope that wasn't to big of a mistake but at this point i want something to break so I KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!!!
) i could notice a difference in idle and what not so I figure if its bad its not totally bad yet.
I read something about if i disconnected the vaccum line that ran to my FPR and gas came out then i need a new one. Well that checked good. Could tell a little difference but not much or so it seemed. ( i think my my timing wire was still unhooked during this but not 100% sure )
Ok back to the timing issue again. I unhooked the tan wire and started it. After IAC took a sort of steady idle or the most it was going to get. I unplugged it ( while running ) just incase the ecm is/was screwed and was making it idle up and down or even to low. Well i shot my gun at the marks. Its at 6* and it now would jump kind of in 1 or 2 * back and forth..... kind of a small idle up and down... WTF!!!!!
I called the dude that owned and asked him what all he done. Told me pretty much the same and then he comes with the truth. Told me his boy was checking codes and forgot to pull out paper clip and started it and let it idle for a couple of minutes before they realized the paper clip was still in. How bad do u think this screwed my ecm?
Also I think the alt. is screwed and might be a the cause of my problems and loss of hp since i've owned the car. ( Don't get me wrong it runs better but before going up a hill at 75 if convertor would unlock i would gain speed going up it like it was nothing. Now it unlocks and if i want to get past the speed i'm at ( lets say 75 and its the same hill ) i have to kick the tranny into 3 gear... So i know i've lost hp somewhere ) But back to the Alt and what this **** done! First it has a new alt from probley o`reilly's and yes its a junk remanufacured one! At night stopped with just headlights on, stereo off, fog lamps off, all other acc. off. I turn my blower on for my head and it sucks my car of juice and does not climb back up ( even if i shut it off until i get rpms up ). It goes from like 13.5 to almost 10 i would say. Everything dims. I've had the alt tested and batt. tested and they say good but that was during t he day with nothing on. I cannot run my fans, foglamps and heater ( still working on a/c system so that is why the heater is in its place plus it don't idle it up ) all at the same time at a idle or it takes my car right about 8 on the pretty factory gages in the car trust me, everything goes dim. So i know the gage is close to the correct setting.
ONE MORE THING!!! Hehe
Tranny shot? maybe is that why it seems i've lost power? I know before at a dead stop it wouldn't like eat the tires off but it would get it for about 20 feet or so (posi with 245 50 16 ) which i dind't feel that was to bad for a 305 that sat for a year and had 140,000 k on it. Now i'm lucky to get one tire even to chirp... It accels but seems like i'm doggin all the way up to 3000 in any gear and then its like my car comes alive!!!
oh ya, when it hits closed loop/ car is warm and i am driving around in drive. Why is my convter locking in 3rd gear at 25 mph. It sends my rpms down to like 800 and dogs my car. That just don't seem normal to me!
PLEASE SOME ADVICE I KNOW ITS LONG BUT THIS IS DRIVING ME FREAKIN CRAZY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. 15.9
3. 16.5
4. 16.6
5. 11.3
6. 13.1
7. 16.7
8. 16.4
So i found why it has a slight miss. YES!!!!
figure since only half read 16 i'm going to change all 8 and keep the 4 that read 16 for back ups!
Thanks to anyone that helped in the past
BTW if u happen to have 8 ( or even 4 but would perfer 8 ) 19 lb injectors for my 1991 t/a 305 tpi and wanna get rid of them drop me a line. Btw i want all 8 in the same ohm level.

i figure since i have to take it all apart anyways i might as well replace with ones i do know that work and just be done with it. I'll keep others for back up or something or give to someone on here if they ever need just one ya know. Plus the car sat for well over a year before i got it so i'll figured if i can find someone that has upgrade and had no problem with there 19's then i'll just change them all
