i take it by "tears" you mean the wiring going to the TPS is damaged.
you can get a replacement harness, it comes with about 10 or so inches of wire & a new connector all put together.
you cut the old harness off & put the new one on.
go slow & do 1 wire at a time making sure you connect each wire back up in the proper place on the new harness.

I took "tears" as the flexible boot was ripped.Funny how it's read differently by different eyes.
Anyway if it's the boot then "false air" is being introduced and that may be the casue of the problem too, after all it is a MAF TPI system. And it may manifest when the car goes into closed loop.

W72, your right, i didn't look at what car he has
if i had, then i would have asked if he meant the air boot, & if so to replace the air boot, because he is getting false air because of the tears in it & that can cause problems like he is having.
im glad you caught that
but i read "tears in the tps" & was thinking wiring, its been a long week, i just spent 2 days under the hood of a 96 ford working on the wiring harness.

no problem
i believe a new TPS pigtail is about $15.00 or so.
it should come with 3 crimp connectors.
the best way to put it on is to use solder & heat shrink tubing, but the crimp connectors work just fine too.
just cut the old one off strip about 3/8 of an inch of insulation off the wire & put the crimp connector on.
like i said before, go slow & do 1 wire at a time making sure you put them on right.
you should be able to find it at most auto parts, im not sure if places like autozone has them or if they even know what they are. you can also get it from your local GM dealer.
