2055s and Borla

Anybody using the Hooker 2055 headers and a Borla CAT-back? Was wondering what kind of sound would I be getting from them. Its for a 350 TPI. Thanks

Rumbly, and sounds fast. J/K.

I have 2055s and hooker catback. Hooker sounded mellower than the flowmaster, but gets louder over time. 2055s sounded leaky (because they leaked, hehe, my bad). The headers will definitely add some noise, but not necessarily good noise, in my opinion (but at no unreasonable level, or expectancy).

Ive heard the 2055s are a step up from stock manifolds and lower engine compartment temps. Im looking for a good sound not obnoxiously LOUD. I know the headers ill add some sound but putting it w/ the catback I dont want it to be annoying while drivin b/c its TOO LOUD. Anyone w/ a good set up that there running that could give me this result? Also I will be adding other mods to the car such as BBK 58mm trottle body, edlebrock intake w/ runners, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, etc. Just for some insight to push me in the right direction. Thanks all

I have the 2055 headers, a hollow cat, and a Dynomax Ultra-Flo straight-through muffler. It sounds great at any engine speed, not too loud at idle or while cruising, but able to set off car alarms when I romp on it.

That kind of what I am looking for Greg. Should I abandon the Borla idea and go w/ the headers, high flow cat, and a good muffler setup? Are stock exhaust pipes on our cars 3" or smaller? I just recently bought this car so sorry for the stupid questions. Also am I on target w/ the rest of my mod ideas I previously posted or am I heading down the wrong path? Thanks

No, you'll find most get to 2 3/4, not 3. And the bends aren't clean. Go cat-back. You won't regret it years down the road. A Borla is "top-dog", adjustable sound too (certain models) so you can tone it down if you find it objectionable. If you want to save some cash and still get a nice system, there are plenty out there. If your looking for a nice rumble that's not too loud/offensive, stay away from Flowmaster and look at systems like Hooker, Edelbrock, or Banks if you can find one. Magnaflow is ok too, but I find mine sounds a little "glasspackee". I like more bass to the tone of mine.

And forget the 58mm TB. If your hellbent on a TB, go 52mm. The rest of your mods are standard fair for what alot of guys do.

see the thread "opinions wanted on possible runner upgrade"to get in on a great deal weve got on AS&M runner. out of the box the AS&M runners are way better than the Edl's.
