Having problem with code 43

I just finished doing a TBI to TPI conversion. But I'm having a problem solving a error code 43 Electronic Spark Control (knock. sensor). I've checked the harness, replaced the knock sensor, tried a different ECU and I have another prom on order so I can test that. The sensor is getting 6.9 votls, more that the specified 4-6 volts, but this voltage was outputted buy both ECUs. Every time I clear the code it returns as soon as the car starts. Anybody have any Ideas? Don't know if it makes a difference, but there are no emission devices currently on the engine. The ECU is a 90-92 730 speed density computer.

I did a search over the weekend, didn't find anything that helped.

The initial timing is set to 6-8 degrees advanced.

Check the resistance of the knock sensor. Same here- replaced my knock sensor and got the same code. Turned out the brand new one was defective. Had 90000 ohms of resistance. Picked up another one and problem solved. If thats not it check the wiring make sure nothings cut or broke. If everything else checks good, the end of the diag bubble is faulty ecm

hey guys, im getting a code 43 on my car now too after fixing something else ive been looking at my haynes manual, im still finding my way around the TPI engine bay, can somebody tell me where the actual knock sensor is located ?

any advice or tips on how to clear a code 43 would be excellent too, the GM error codes list shows 3 things that are possibly wrong so im not sure where to start really, knock sensor, TPS out of adjustment or ESC control failure ?

ive recently replaced spark plugs and leads, i also had the cap off the distributor to check the inside to see if it was good (which it was) i put it all back together and the car ran fantastic then 20 mins later coming home my SES light came on and found it was a code 43.

It's on the passenger side of the block, low down, just rear of the engine mount. It is best to get to it from under the car.

MAF

Well guys believe it or not but when a MAF Sensor is starting togo and you has hesitation and stuble from launch I have found code 43 to set off left and right and no other codes and done hours or electrical testing to find out the simplest sensor to check the MAF was bad, figures hope this might help someone as I had running wires as Ive had so much practice through the years

Oh and GTA My car was doing just what you are saying your doing over 70mph situation

Also for fitbmx the module is located on the driverside firewall and if I recall most say hmk on them, Simple find and easy to get to

I too am having a 43 code problem. First found tps was bad reading 1.5 at idle. Still 43 on all the time. 2nd found that when I reinstalled motor I have secondary fan and knock sensor backwards. Both have same style plug, if you ground fan out with ignition on fan will turn on. Now 43 is not on all the time but it does trigger while driving. I got 30,000 ohms at knock sensor, timeing at 6 deg. I am kinda lost on this one.
