WTF no change after header install
Before I installed hooker 2055 with y-pipe.
reaction .744
60ft 2.020
1/8th 9.202 @ 74.66
After the install only got a
.708 reaction
9.127 @ 76.00
Anyone know why my e.t didnt increase after install? I know it did a little but that was the best I could get.
Do I need a tune? Should I pump up timing and fuel? What should I do?
Thanks
Jason

why would your E.T. increase?? But i know where your going with this. You did drop a tenth and 2mph i guess thats a difference but with drag racing there could be many variables i.e. temperature (car and ambient temp.) As long as you have stock base timing and no other mods i wouldnt jack with the timing. Another thing, what do you have as far as cat-back exhaust you could have a clogged converter or the stock muffler would hold you back. Anyways good luck and let us know if your times change

I have a hooker catback no cat and a 3" electric cutout. I figured I would get better et. I am just disappointed. I figured I would at least hit the 8's with that.
Oh and my 60 ft for the 9.127 was a 2.018.

other then no smog that is it, stock rebuilt tranny free air foil.
So what can I do to get a better 8th time? Maybe do some suspension mods so I can launch harder.
Are my 60ft times good or could I be doing better?
Thanks
Jason

actualy that was what i was thinking. you should be at a 1.9* 60'. but your still close. some shocks and tires should do you well.
Do you have traction problems. and a tune would do some good too.

well some times I have traction problems. I ran one pass of a 9.247 with a 9.4 60ft.
I baby it out of the whole now when I got the 9.202 I gave it all it had so now that i think about it I need to figured out how to lauch it again since I got the headers.
Do you think I should play with the timing and fuel pressure? I just ordered a AFPR.

that will help your hp, but you need to get that traction problem fix first imo.

be careful when running drag tires the car runs fastest with 26.1 tall tires so a dragradial at 245/50/16 would be perfect, along with tires you need lca's,50/50 rear shocks,2600 stall with these parts you should 60' 1.7s

When I was moding my 89GTA installing the SLP Tri-Y headers was the single biggest seat of the pants improvement I made. I could really tell the horsepower picked up big time. All the other mods were incremental and not all that noticeable.

When I installed the exhaust system on my L98 car, it went way lean in the midrange, and needed the fuel pressure cranked up. It ran fine at high end, so that might be why your trap speed was good, but it just didn't pull strong through the midrange, so the ET improved only incrementally.

that could be it because now that i think about it I can tell a big difference in the upper rpm range. So soons as I get some time of other then a few hours I will play with my timing and bump up fuel pressure when i get the AFPR installed. Thanks for the insite.
