Steering column Swap problems

I am changing out the steering column from my 87 IROC. The new one I got is from an 86. The new one has tilt that's the reason for the change.
I got it all installed and the ignition is backwards... Meaning I turn the key backwards and the Car starts.
The rod goes the opposite way of my original one. Due to the bracket holes in the column being in different spots. And looks like a plug is different As well...
Is there anyway I can make this work? I am thinking nope!

Re: Steering column Swap problems

I'm betting that the column was from a car with a different type of tranny.

I seem to remember that the ignition box mounted to the column on manual cars was mounted the opposite as the ignition box from an auto car. Either the box would need to be flipped ---> or the plugs need to be flipped/reversed so they match the wiring properly.

Re: Steering column Swap problems

I had the 2 steering columns on the bench and the big white plugs---ignition plug is it?
Well they were different.
And there's an extra wire which I am thinking was for the cruise which I dont have.
Heres the white plug I am talking about, I will post a pic of the other one tomorrow as I am not home now.
