Hey all. I am making to swap to the other side of the tracks. Tired of ****en dealing with my tbi and lack of aftermarket support. So here are my questions. I have got the plenum, fuel rail, tb, intake, runners and distib of a 88 305 tpi. I have an 730 ecm and 91 speed density harness. Will all this stuff work together. Oh yeah I am putting it on a 91 L98 longblock. I know that I will ahve to get the chip and sensors for the L98, but what else do I need? Where can I get a EGR block off plate? Do I need to get anything special to go with it? Oh yeah I got the throttle cable and bracket too. Any help would be appreciated.

I am not trying to persuade you to keep TBI, but you will also need fuel system changes and an engine compartment wiring harness change.
Not to mention the BS and Red Tape that you will have to go through to get it smogged.

Well I have the entire sending unit and pump out of the TPI car I just forgot to mention that. When you say engine compartment wiring harness what do you mean. The one that I have is everything from firewall out. I don't have smog to worry about which is cool because my car is registered to FL. Which is nice.
Thanks for the quick reply

Sounds like you're going to be doing two conversions. TBI to TPI and MAF to Speed Density then. Maf ECM is 7165.

You can convert your TBI harness to TPI fairly easily. My dad Dyno Don has done it several times on cars he has converted at his shop. Do a search and if you cant find it, come over to the SoCal forum and ask. Every customer he has swapped from TBI to TPI has been thrilled with the new performance and hasnt regretted it.
Actually I have an 730 ecm got it with the harness. So that is cool. Kevin I will look up your pops. That sounds like a good deal. Do you know how much he charges off the top of your head?

I did the same thing in my 92 RS. I got my harness converted at TPIparts.net and it made things a lot easier. They took my TBI harness and coverted it to a speed density TPI harness and it was all plug and play from there.
Nice how much did that run you? You still switched to the 730 ecm right?

I used the 730 ecu and it was about 150 or so at the time I did it. I thinks its more now. Its not a hard swap but make sure you take plenty of pics of how and where your harness runs so you can put it all back the way it come out. And you do not have to cut any wires to take the harness out.
